We will meet Mondays and Wednesdays after school.
This is open to all (and only) 3rd through 5th grade girls with registration opening February 6th - watch for info coming soon.
For more information about the program go to www.girlsontherunrockies.org.

Questions?
Principal Hours at Southmoor
New to Southmoor this year is Principal Hours. It is a time blocked out by
Sarina Compoz to meet with parents and be available for anyone who needs/wants to talk to her.
No appointment required, just come in and chat with the Principal.
Principal hours will start to be posted on the website’s calendar this week.
Check the calendar for updates!
PBis News!
-Our second trimester PBis assembly is set for March 3rd!
- Our third trimester assembly is set for May 19th!
-In February, a survey will be distributed amongst faculty to gather
information about how staff perceive certain student behaviors and
what they believe is the best course of action for those behaviors.
- The Mighty Moose character trait of the month: RESPECT
- We are also working towards collecting an abundance of resources to better promote a Southmoor Bucket-Filling culture!
Physical Wellness News
-Snow Boots! “HELP!!”
The most heard phrase from me to students is, “When you leave your home, either have sneakers on your feet or in your backpack.”
PLEASE do not send your child to school with only snow boots, no matter if it’s a P.E. day or not.
Snow boots are not appropriate for movement other than walking.
-Mile Club T-shirt Fridays
I encourage all students who have received their
mile club shirt, for reaching the 25-mile marker, to wear them each Friday.
-Gold Medalist
Joe Kleeman, who is in fifth grade, completed his 100th mile before the winter break.
He is our second student to reach the gold medal plateau!
Safety at Southmoor
Children occasionally bump their heads. Most of the time, the injury is not severe. Big Bumps can
Occur in a very short time with minor injuries. Damage to the brain is rare. Close observation
For 24-48 hours will alert you to any serious behavior changes. Vomiting and sleepiness are
Common following head injuries.
At Home Care
- Call your doctor if you are concerned or worries about your child’s condition.
- Call your doctor if any of the “Behavior Changes” noted below are seen.
- Clean skin scrapes with soap and water.
- Apply ice packs for 1 hour if swelling occurs.
- Give only clear liquids for 4-6 hours since vomiting is common after head injuries.
- Don’t give any pain medication. This can mask or hide more serious problems.
- If the pain is severe enough that you think your child needs pain medication, call your doctor
immediately.
