Message
from DPS Nursing Services
Winter is here and so are winter colds and other
illnesses. We do not want children to miss school.
Neither do we want our families sending a sick child to school to
expose others to possible illness.
Due to the increase in influenza cases in the school district,
Denver Public Health sent a letter to all DPS families about the flu.
Public health officials have shared there is a significant
increase in reported cases this year.

Southmoor
Personnel Committee
The
Southmoor CSC is looking for parents to serve on the Personnel Committee.
The
Personnel Committee is responsible for supporting the selection of candidates
for vacancies within the school and administering the Reduction in Building
Staff (RIBS) process.
The
Personnel Committee is composed of the Principal and three (3) teacher members
chosen by vote of the faculty and two (2) parent members chosen by the CSC.
The
Committee meets from February until May. Please contact Mandye Brady

if
you have questions or are interested in serving on the Personnel Committee.
• The Personnel
Committee meets between February-May (some years meetings are more frequent
than others)
• Most meetings
take place right before or after school (from 7-9AM or 4:00-6:30PM)
• Childcare is not
provided
• Meetings are
scheduled with very short turn around and usually communicated via email, so
it's important that check your email frequently and have good availability
• On site visits
will be required during school hours to observe candidates. This is also

Dine out nights - update
Did you know our dine out nights generated over $1,600 for our
school since the beginning of the year?
Many thanks to those who hosted and those who went out. Our next
dine out night is January 24th
at Papa Murphy’s at Hampden and Yosemite – hope to see you there!

Super Singers
School
Choir - Information for Spring 2018
Southmoor
students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade*are invited
to participate in our very own school choir,
the
Southmoor Super Singers! Choir practice will be on Wednesday mornings from
8:00 – 8:55 in the music room beginning January 17, 2018.
Choir
members will learn about American History and different types of American Music
with an emphasis on African American music, spirituals and gospel music.
Students
will work together on musical expression, melody, harmony, vocal ensemble
technique, and enjoy experience as performers.
The
Super Singers are supported by a grant through the DPS Foundation! We are
excited to be working with Jennifer Ford Keel as a
special
guest director and Rodney Norman as a special guest accompanist. A performance
schedule will be available soon.
