In February, Student Council will be selling Valentine-grams in the morning before school on
Thursday, Feb. 7th - Friday, February 8th - Monday, February 11th - and Tuesday, February 12th.
We will sell them in the back hall starting at 8:30. The Valentines are $1.00 and the money will
go to Jump Rope For Heart. The Valentines will be delivered on the 14th by the officers.

The auction is only 6 weeks away and we need your help. We still need donations! The best
places to ask for donations are the businesses you support. If your frequent restaurants, hair
salons, spas or other businesses ask them to help you by donating to our auction. All donations
can be turned in at the front office. We also need sponsors. You, your family members and
your companies can help sponsor our auction for as little as $50 and up to $1000. All sponsors
will be featured in our auction program. If you have a family member that sponsors for $150
they can include a message for their Southmoor student in the auction program. Visit

Want to help further STEM education at Southmoor? We are looking for one dedicated
volunteer to help us run a Girls Who Code program one day a week. Class time would be from
2:00 – 3:00pm in the Library. We provide all the materials you will need to run the class! No
coding experience? No problem! Our friends over at Silicon STEM Academy have offered to
help us train the right person in this easy to use program. Contact Mr. Jon at
jonathan_miller@dpsk12.org if you or someone you know may be interested!

with Nathan Levy on February 21 from 5:30-7:00 pm. This workshop will focus on how to help
children be better thinkers and learners. There will be an emphasis on the importance of
challenge, perseverance and hard work as social-emotional components for acquiring skills
that help gifted children adapt to meet life’s expectations. Practical ideas and materials will be
presented by author, consultant, and former President of New Jersey Association for Gifted
Children, Nathan Levy. See link for more information.
