PTO Weekly View this email in your browser Welcome back to school and to 2016!  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful vacation and time off with your family. Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, January 12th, 4-5:30pm in the school library.  As always ll are welcome and childcare will be provided.  Just a few things to share before we really get going this year. - Katherine Sullivan, PTO President koegs30@gmail.com Kindergarten and ECE RoundUp -- Wednesday, January 13th, 8-9am --   Southmoor's Kindergarten and ECE Round Up will be held on Wednesday, January 13th, 8-9am in the school library.  We encourage all families with children entering kindergarten or ECE in the fall of 2016 to attend.  Please spread the word to friends and neighbors with interest in these programs at Southmoor - all are welcome!  We will have a small panel of teachers and administrators who will discuss the kindergarten and ECE programs and will be available for questions.  Members of our student government will lead school tours following the panel, and parents are invited to visit the kinder / ECE classrooms and meet the teachers.  Children are permitted to attend and we will have activities and 5th graders to help out. PASSION PROJECT NEWS!   Our new semester of Passion Projects will begin on January 15th. It's not too late to help. We need the following: Iced cupcakes (15) Icing-free cupcakes (24) Teachers for our 3-5 and K-2 Mystery Class. These classes are designed to surprise students each month with a different topic. We are happy to help you come up with ideas. Substitute teacher for our Pokemon Club. You will be provided with an easy-to-follow lesson plan. Box Tops for Education Classroom Competition   During the months of January and February we will be doing a Box Top for Education classroom competition.  This is to encourage families to cut the Box Top icon off the foods they are already buying and bring them into the school as a way to earn money for programs and classrooms.  All we need you to do is to bring in those Box Tops, we will do the rest to keep track of the classroom progress.  Any questions, email Suzy Stone at suzystone2002@yahoo.com. NEEDED: Volunteers for the Personnel Committee (part of CSC)   We have a request for volunteers for the personnel committee that meets on an ad hoc basis to support interviewing candidates for full time positions.
