Highly Gifted and Talented News
The District Parents' Information Night is September 13th from 6:00–7:00p.m.
It will be held here at Southmoor
If you are interested in having your child participate in the Magnet Program this informational evening is very important.
Testing for the Magnet Program will be November 6th – 17th.
Nomination forms are available on the GT website at https://studentequity.dpsk12.org/gifted-talented/
Nomination forms may be completed and submitted online.
Forms are due by October 6, 2017.
Passion Projects!
The 3rd year of Passion Projects are set to start on October 13th…
BUT we need your help! We are still looking for volunteers to: teach a class, facilitate a 5th grade-led project,
host a "Career Spotlight" class, or donate supplies.

Milk & Cake
Starting THIS Friday, September 1st and every Friday in September after school.....Will be FroYo Friday!
Milk & Cake will bring to the school three options of froyo (including gluten free) and three toppings to choose from.
All items will be nut-free and price is $4

Dollar-a-Day!
Let's start the year strong by raising $15,000 through our "Dollar-A-Day" campaign.
100% of the money will go towards making an impact this year through teacher grants, paraproffessional salaries,
supplemental curriculum, capital improvements and more.

Girls Leadership Seminar
If you have a daughter in 2nd-5th grades and find yourself dealing with "girl drama", please consider signing up
for the Parent/Daughter Girls Leadership Seminar. Details will be available in your upcoming Thursday folders.
For 2nd and 3rd grade girls, the focus is on "Nine Tools For True Friendship." For 4th and 5th grade girls,
the topic is "Four Steps to Getting What you Need." The 4-session series will be in Tuesday evenings in October from 5:30-7:00pm.
The cost is $205, however, scholarships are available.
Girls on the Run
Confidence building and FUN for 3rd,
4th and 5th grade girls!!
Sign up at www.girlsontherunrockies.org. We'll have practice on Mondays and Wednesdays – either mornings or afternoons at your discretion.

Destination Imagination is preparing Colorado's kids to be the innovators of the future by
combining the arts, sciences, and technology with creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.
In order to be successful and offer this opportunity to our students, we also need adult volunteers as well.
