Physical Wellness News
*Jump Rope for Heart
JRFH is, once again, going wonderfully.  If your child did not receive or misplaced the information, have them visit with me.
Donation envelopes are due by Wednesday, February 28th.
I appreciate everyone who participates in this meaningful fundraiser, at any donation level, to support children with congenital heart disease.
*100 Mile Club
There are many students who have been braving the morning cold temperatures to get their laps in.
We all are looking forward to Spring!  Fourth grader Joseph Poole is our latest 100 miler!
Also, fifth grader Issac Jaquette and fourth grader Hannah Mitchell have reached 300 Miles!
I’m proud of all the students who come to school early to get some exercise to jump start their day.
*Nutritionist Visit
A big thanks to the PTO for sponsoring a visit from a nutritionist on Monday.  Each fifth-grade class, learned about the concept of eating a rainbow of colors
with fruits and vegetables every day.  Each color or phytonutrient has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and/or anti-bacterial benefits for the body.
The rainbow concept also allows an individual to consume a food that may not taste well, to them, but combined with other flavors, is not noticeable.
Also, they learned about the effects of sugar on the body and how much is in some drinks and food.  Each child received an information sheet to use at home.
*Tri Star Basketball Competition
The Tamarac Optimist Clubs annual basketball skills competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 24th at the Eisenhower Recreation Center.
For more details, visit www.tristarbasketball.org.  It is free to all girls and boys ages 8-13 years.
